Since you enabled low power mode (using the power switch), thats the logical way to un-low power mode.
Two outcomes come to mind ..
When opening the lid, one of:
i) wake up from low power mode, or
ii) Don't turn the screen on when in low power mode
(or a variation of (ii) -- flash a warning "hey, I'm in lower power, bugger off, and hit the power switch")
I can code something in; probably occured due to in my prototype, I broke the power switch, so I didn't use low power mode near the end ;) |

When booting the pandora-OS from sd-card by using the official tar, you will end up with your sd-card being mounted twice: once as / and once as /media/. I solved this by adding "/dev/mmcblk0" to "/etc/udev/mount.blacklist". Maybe this should be added to the default tarball? I'm not sure as it might be used in other ways maybe (beside SD-card-installation)?
Background: I ran "updatedb" as root and have been notified by a message that there was a mount-loop. After adding the above modification the system still booted fine and "updatedb" ran nicely without a warning. |

EDIT:
Tried a remount with noatime and this seemed to work very well. CPU usage when writing still goes higher, but not as high as before.
Very common problem, seems to happen on all systems (just do a google search for mmcqd).
Just run SuperTux, wait about 10 seconds at the title screen and it will hang for a few seconds (while mmcqd goes up).
Same problem as on the GP2X where we also had hangs occuring.
I wonder if there's something that can be done here?
Some suggest to change mmcqd priority. Some other sites do try to remove features of mmcqd.
Another option is to mount async (like on the gp2x).
As the Pandora usually isn't switched off the hard way but should be shutdown properly, this could be a good solution.
That would mean that our suspend mode needs to call sync before shutting down.
Maybe pnd_run.sh could also run sync after a game quit?

At the moment, /usr/pandora/scripts/op_switchgui,sh ,/usr/pandora/scripts/op_defaultgui.sh and /usr/pandora/scripts/first-run-wizard.sh are hardcoded with the GUIs we have.
I'd like to have that configurable for the future.
My current plan is having a config file with all the GUIs in (e.g. /etc/pandora/gui.conf)
In there, there should be ALL GUIs:
"XFCE4";"startxfce4";"xfce4-session-logout --logout"
"Netbook Launcher";"startnetbooklauncher";"killall netbook-launcher-efl"
"PMenu";"pmenu";""
So with an info:
a) What's the name of the GUI
b) How to start it
c) How to stop it (if it doesn't do that itself)
Therefore, various GUIs could be implemented and switched with the Switch GUI script by simply adding it to the config file.
Ideally, all GUIs should either have a shutdown script (so I don't have to kill it to quit it) or react properly on a simple terminate
command :)
Or they could do it themselves, read out the config file, show up the different GUIs we have, change the /tmp/gui.load file and quit.
Any more ideas?
Any help? Coding that script shouldn't be too hard, the only thing I don't know at the moment is how to parse various config lines (as above) into a shell script :)

Work Around - an external keyboard was able to enter these characters

Run "ldd -r /usr/lib/libpnd.so.1", and a number of undefined symbols are listed. These become a problem when attempting to load libpnd in Python. I imagine it could be a problem when attempting to load libpnd in other languages as well.
This can be worked around with "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libstdc++.so" before running a Python program that loads libpnd.
But it can be worked around more easily by linking libstdc++ during compile. Adding "-lstdc++" to line 41 of libpnd's Makefile does it. I'd add a patch, but the attach file button isn't working for me. Still, a simple fix, right? |

Please be aware though that Linux-SWAT had to explicitly set a value in "/sys/block/zram0/disksize" to get it work with Slackware. Over here the following is automatically set:

Sadly I can *not* change this value, even using sudo:

I started with hotfix 5 and when I used the Left Nub for mouse movement it performed well.
I installed HOTFIX 6 R1 Beta and the Nub works fine except pushing up. It moves the cursor very slow and all other directions just fine. The other nub works just fine as well.
This only began after I installed HF6R1B.
I also had to install the Hotfix twice due to sustained system freeze upon start up on the first attempt.
I enabled gui choice but minimenu does not function it just cycles back to GUI choice. |

The command line environment of the default OS does not include the command "man" and the respective manpages of the installed programs.
I personally often use manpages, as I hardly remember the syntax/arguments of all programs I use.

EVALUATING NEEDED STORAGE AMOUNT
Some may argue that storage space is quite limited on the NAND.
Yes I agree. Hence the number of included programs is limited too. Hence it would not be all too many manpages.
When I press TAB into an empty Terminal prompt, I get 1406 possibilities, which is about the amount of available commands/programs if we ignore aliases, etc.
Multiply that with an average of 20 kb per manpage, and you get about 30 MB in total. With compression this could possibly be brought down to 15-20 MB.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
A) Store into the NAND the manpages of core OS CLI programs only, and not all the library/system/etc documentation.
B) Include only the man command into the core OS, and compile/configure it in such a fashion, that it finds the manpages within non-NAND media (SD card, USB volume, etc).
b1) Specify that it simply looks into a certain path within the /media/*/pandora/ structure.
b2) Or offer PND packages like man-core.pnd, man-extended.pnd,... you get the idea or even man-custom.pnd (which would look into its appdata or a certain path for custom added manpages, to somehow get the b1 approach within the PND approach). |

In it's current state, Gigolo is flat out broken and (almost) useless. It pretends to to it's job, but can't because it's missing critical pieces of anatomy.
It can mount local filesystems correctly, but then so can thunar, so this is a redundant and useless function. The main reason to use Gigolo is to mount remote filesystems easily, and without having to use the terminal, and to save passwords in your keychain.
The solution to the problem is to perform the following tasks:

The system starts at /media/mmcblk0 (with p1 ec being the partition number); if you eject the SD, then stick it back in, it will try to go to the earlier number again, but if some process was watching that SD when you ejected it, the system will nto be able to recycle that number, so you get the next blk number. So if you end up with /media/mmcblk5p1 (say), then it means you've been eject/inserting, and some program or another has been watching the SD instead of letting it go.
Isn't it nicer to cleanup the ones above 1 (so 0 and 1 are there) at startup to avoid confusion? |
