FS#111 - Minimal Boot to X_Term / Pico

Can we add an option to the boot menu for a minimal boot to X-term, and include Pico in the base OS? This would allow us to fix problems we've caused by messing around with starup scripts etc..

EvilDragon shared this line, ready to be pasted into the gui.conf: xterm;Opens a simply X-Shell;xterm;killall xterm http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?/topic/54305-how-can-i-drop-back-to-the-shell/page__st__15__p__874917__hl__xterm__fromsearch__1&#entry874917

this doesn't resolve the issue. It allows you to add xterm as a gui and even set it as the default gui, but it will not allow recovery of a system that is failing to boot.

Make a file named boot.txt in root of SD with this: setenv bootargs ubi.mtd=4 ubi.mtd=3 root=ubi0:rootfs rootfstype=ubifs rw rootflags=bulk_read console=tty0 vram=6272K omapfb.vram=0:3000K init=/bin/bash then boot from SD1. As for Pico, just use nano.

Thanks notaz, however according t the post at the address below this mounts the file system as read only, so it is not possible to make any changes to the root file system?? http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?/topic/54918-unbricking-my-pandora/page__view__findpost__p__885707

mount -o remount,rw / and the default installation includes nano, doesnt it? (Should do for this task just as well).

The solution is achievable with [auto]boot.txt, closing.
